A Weekend in the Canyonlands

May 2025  |  Canyonlands, Utah

Over Memorial Day weekend, Claudia and I headed out to Utah for three days of car camping and day hiking in and around the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Along the way we enjoyed camping at some awesome remote campsites along mesa rims with broad vistas overlooking the canyonlands.

By late May the desert temps were getting borderline too hot for my taste (in the mid 80's F), but still bearable and certainly still pleasant in the shade. In any case, after a month of mostly working at the computer it was refreshing to unplug from the internet for a few days, venture into the great outdoors once again, dust off the camera, and check out some new (to us) places.
