Between the Canyonlands

November 2025  |  Southern Utah

After nearly 8 weeks of being mostly housebound with my busted toe, we finally got out into the great outdoors this last week for a couple nights of truck camping in the no-man's land between the north and south districts of Canyonlands National Park in southern Utah.

Although I'm still limited in my hiking capabilities, I was pleased to be able to scramble around on the slickrock without issues. And even though this was just a short trip it felt so rejuvenating to unplug and spend some quiet time in the desert. The temps neared freezing each night, but we were plenty cozy wrapped up in our puffy down jackets, down pants, and moon boots (though we probably looked like Martian astronauts out there!).
