The French Alps are the western side of the greater Alps mountain range and include the tallest mountain in the Alps – Mont Blanc (4,806 m / 15,766 ft), which towers over the famous alpine town of Chamonix. In southern France, the rugged Pyrenees form a natural border between France and Spain.
